Despite misconceptions about bidet sprays, multiple studies have reported on their benefits. When compared to toilet paper, bidet taps emerge as the clear winner in terms of hygiene, plumbing, and space-saving advantages.

Firstly, bidets are more hygienic than toilet paper. The latter smears fecal matter around and fails to clean the area properly. In contrast, bidets are gentler and more hygienic since they effectively wash the fecal matter away.

Secondly, the use of bidet sprays results in less clogging. Flushing toilet paper down the toilet is a common cause of drainage pipe clogs, which can lead to costly plumbing repairs. By using a bidet spray, however, users can avoid this problem and save money in the long run.

One common issue encountered with hand-held bidets is leaking. Canadian and American homes have some of the highest water pressure rates in the world, which can cause stress on bathroom appliances. In North America, the water pressure can reach 80 PSI (pounds per square inch), compared to other countries where PSI is around 40. As most bidet manufacturers are based in China or Italy, their products are only stress tested with their respective country’s water pressure rates in mind. Even though their production passes their local country test, it may cause problems in Canadian homes.

Thirdly, bidets don’t take up too much space. Unlike toilet paper rolls, which tend to come in multiples of 10, bidets can be easily tucked away in the dead space between the toilet bowl and the wall.
